Turner monument opening ceremony

The opening ceremony of the turner monument took place on September 22, 2016. This monument was presented as a gift from "StankoMashStroy" to the beloved city of Penza for a Machinist Day.
The monument was placed in the park on German Titov street.
This turner monument is unique in Russia and has a great cultural significance. Now it can be considered as an attraction of Penza, which city residents can be proud of and demonstrate to the tourists and guests of the city.

The author of the monument is a local sculptor, head of the sculpture department at Penza Art College, member of the Russia Artists Union, People's Artist of Kalmykia, Alexander Sarkisovich Hachyaturyan.

The cast bronze sculpture depicts a turner beside the lathe. Turner is embodied looking at the workpiece - the results of his work. In his left hand he holds a made item, in the right - micrometer measuring device. The casting of the sculpture was made in Penza.

Turners are one of the key specialists of mechanical engineering industry, which is the fundamental industry in our region. Installation of the monument is a huge step towards the recognition of the importance of such work, a way to draw attention to the blue-collar job and make it more attractive to young people.

The opening ceremony was attended by representatives of the Penza region government, heads of local enterprises and organizations, honored workers and veterans of the mechanical engineering industry, participants and winners of professional skills competitions. The special guest of the ceremony was the president of the "Stankoinstrument" association, Georgy Samodurov.

The governor of the Penza region, Ivan Belozertsev, chairman of the Penza region Legislative Assembly, Valery Lidin, and other guests greeted the audience, emphasized the essential role of the human labor in the economy development and the importance of the blue-collar job promotion. They also thanked the company "StankoMashStroy" on behalf of General Director Oleg A. Kochetkov for the monument.

After the ceremony all the guests were invited to the banquet dedicated to the Machinist Day.
