After the opening ceremony, the first stage of the competition began. The participants received a task and 40 minutes to solve it. Every contestant had to write an NC program, based on a drawing he received, and to process a workpiece automatically with a SMEC PL 25 machining center.
The equipment was provided to the contestants by StankoMashStroy, one of the largest manufacturers and suppliers of highly productive metal-processing equipment in Russia. The advanced machines were provided free of charge.
After the 3 contest tasks were solved, the jury chose three winners, who received money certificates, all the others received runner-up prizes.
The championship attracted attention of the leading enterprises of the region. the opening ceremony was attended by more than 70 people, including Deputy Minister of Industry, Transport, Innovation Policy and Information of the Penza region, Mikhail G. Antonov, Director of Penza multidisciplinary college, the head of the Regional Coordinating Centre for the Development of professional communities of the Penza region Alexander Fetisov, CNC sales manager of FANUC Moscow Denis Alexandrov, the chief engineer of JSC "Penzadieselmash" Associate Professor of the "Transport machines" chair in Penza State University Alexander Porfirevich Zhuk, Director of research and education center "New technologies", assistant professor of the "Mechanical engineering" chair in Penza State University, Sergey Nesterov, deputy head of "Penza State technological University Vitali V. Golubovskii.
The general director of StankoMashStroy Oleg Kochetkov, addressed the audience with welcoming speech and noted the importance of enhancing the prestige of working trades among youth, as well as the need for qualifying competitions in order to improve professional skills of specialists.
